Season’s Greetings from Cooking in Bloom!
As we enter the holiday season, we want to take a moment to reflect on the year and share our excitement for the continued growth of Cooking in Bloom. This year has been filled with learning, community, and joy as we’ve been able to connect with so many wonderful families and children.
As we look ahead, we’re thrilled to share some exciting updates, upcoming events, and important reminders to help you make the most of this festive season!
A Season of Gratitude
This time of year is a perfect opportunity to express gratitude, and we want to thank you for being part of the Cooking in Bloom community. Your support has helped us grow and impact the lives of so many children by teaching them the importance of sustainability, healthy eating, and cooking.
We’re also grateful for the incredible partnerships with the Episcopal Diocese and local ministries that have allowed us to extend our reach and make a meaningful difference in even more communities.
Get Involved This Holiday Season
The holidays are a time for giving, and we encourage you to get involved by:
• Donating Ingredients or Supplies: We are always in need of fresh, local ingredients and cooking supplies. If you would like to make a donation, please reach out to us.
• Volunteer with us: If you have some extra time during the holiday break, consider volunteering to help at one of our upcoming events or workshops.
• Spread the Word: If you know families who would benefit from our program, share our mission with them! The more, the merrier.
As we celebrate this season of joy and renewal, we are reminded of the importance of community and the difference we can make when we come together to nurture the health of our children and the planet. Thank you for being a part of Cooking in Bloom. We look forward to an even brighter 2024, full of learning, growth, and delicious meals!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season filled with warmth, health, and joy.

Holiday Cooking and Sustainability Tips
The holiday season is often centered around food, and we love the opportunity it brings to teach children how to create meals that are both delicious and sustainable. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
• Go Local: Support local farmers and markets by sourcing ingredients that are in season and grown nearby. Not only will you get fresher food, but you’ll be reducing your carbon footprint!
• Waste Less, Enjoy More: Encourage children to make use of leftovers creatively—turn turkey into soup, or use vegetable scraps for homemade broths.
• Healthy Holiday Treats: While indulgent treats are a holiday favorite, consider making healthier alternatives. For example, try baking with whole wheat flour, reducing sugar, and incorporating seasonal fruits like apples and pears.
What’s Coming in 2024
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce new opportunities for your children to participate in hands-on cooking classes and sustainability workshops! Here’s a sneak peek at some of our plans for the new year:
• Winter Cooking Classes: In January, we’ll kick off our winter session with classes focused on warming, nutritious meals perfect for the season.
• Sustainability Workshops: We’ll be introducing new workshops that teach children how to grow their own herbs and vegetables, even in small spaces, so they can learn the connection between where food comes from and how it impacts their health and the planet.
• Expansion to New Ministries: Thanks to the support of the Episcopal Diocese, we’re thrilled to begin offering our program to even more communities in the new year!
